The Spirit Manifested Life Bro. Lee Vayle - July 2, 1978 Heavenly Father we do come to You tonight and our need is Lord, not necessarily that we have to have so many things of life that we do want and do. We do know You do supply them liberally, but the one thing we need above, Lord, is that Your Word, because in It we know that we have Eternal Life. So, we pray that Your Word will guide us and direct us and show us the things that we ought to know. May Christ be glorified, may it not be the thoughts of man, or the emotions of man, or what man has, the prejudices of dogmas or creeds. But may It be solely Your Word, Lord, and we ask You know to come forth in that respect, and be careful to give You the praise in Jesus' Name. Amen. You may be seated. 1. Now, again tonight I want you to be well aware of the fact that I'm not going to try to teach you something that you don't know, but we're going to go into the Word of the Lord. Something which we already know, but perhaps we'll know It a little bit better. The major reason, the message tonight is, 'The Spirit Manifest Life', which will deal will not exclusively with, but bring into account the evidence the baptism with the Holy Ghost, is because of what I have seen happen in the United States, where some brethren have never been able to accept what Bro. Branham did say was the actual evidence. And because of that I have seen which I believe in my heart to be things that have crept in, which are not pertinent to this Message, are not comely concerning what we believe, and therefore have led to some error. 2. Now, we're going to begin in the Book of Acts 1:4-5, and then we'll go to Acts 2:1-4. And It says: (4) And, being assembled together with them, commanded them they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. (5) For John truly baptized with water; but (you should) be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. Now, in here we see a comparison where Jesus is using water baptism as a basis for the baptism with the Holy Ghost. And what I see here is that even as water baptism is real and cannot be denied, neither can the baptism with the Holy Ghost be denied, because It is a real experience. As the question came one time to Bro. Branham, "Can a person receive the Holy Spirit and not know It?" He said, "Can a woman have a baby and not know it?" He said, "Certainly, she will know it unless she's anesthetized." So, here we see that God has given us the legitimate promise which can be translated into very definite reality, that a person can receive the Holy Spirit. 3. And in Acts 2:1-4 we see the historical account of how He came. (1) …when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. (2) And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. (3) And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. (4) And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Now, I'm going to read in a minute or two some quotes from what Bro. Branham said was the evidence of the baptism of the Holy Ghost. Now, first of all we want to notice that you cannot find the term in the Bible the evidence of the Holy Spirit, or the evidence of the baptism with the Holy Spirit. So, when we use the term we are using that term evidence of the baptism with the Holy Ghost as an expression that comes from Pentecostal dogma. Wherein they said and believed and you and I used to know, (no doubt the majority of us) that you can know if you are filled with the Holy Spirit, and you can know that others are filled with the Holy Spirit only if you or the people that you know speak with tongues. 4. Now, they say that you must speak in tongues as a proof that you have received the baptism with the Holy Ghost. Now, of course we know where they got their idea. The idea came from Charles Parham asking three or four, (whatever it was) young students of Scripture to go through the Bible and find what the evidence of the baptism with the Holy Ghost was. So, they studied the Book of Acts where they found three out of five cases mentioned that they spake with tongues. And so, they took that as a pretty good average and they figured that if three out of five cases they spoke with tongues, then it was to be presupposed that all five cases spoke with tongues. What they didn’t realize is what I've already said that this is the historical account of how the Holy Spirit was given, but it is not what the Scripture teaches to be the Bible evidence. 5. Now, we're going to read here then, the quotes that Bro. Branham has given us. And I feel at perfect liberty to do so, even though the Bible does not speak of an evidence, per se. But since Bro. Branham said, (and I believe that you'll concur heartily) "that when the purpose of a thing is manifested that is the evidence of it." So, if the purpose of the Holy Ghost is such and such, and that is manifested, and that would certainly be the evidence. Now, we're going to read the quotes, oh several of them. One: [The Spoken Word Is The Original Seed 62-0318] And you might not think these are not too pertinent, but well get around to them. [384] You can only serve God as you do and believe the servants. (Now, I'll read that again, because it sounds a little difficult.) You can only serve God as you do and believe the servants that God sends. You can only serve God on earth, see, as God’s servants that’s sent on earth by Divine inspiration interpret the Word to you. 6. Now, we'll see more of that as we get into Revelation chapter 2. There's only one evidence of the Holy Spirit that I know of, and that's the genuine faith in the promised Word of the hour. [The Feast Of The Trumpets 64-0719] [101] Jesus, the Son of God, revealing Himself by the Scriptures, making the Scripture (that has been predestinated to this day, like it was to that day, and all other days) live. And to believe It, is the evidence of the Holy Spirit. Righteousness. Now, you'll notice he uses the terminology 'righteousness'. Now, righteousness of course is found in 2 Corinthians 5:21, where It mentions that God…that Jesus was made a sacrifice for sin, "He Who knew no sin, that we might become the righteousness of God by our union with Him. "And by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body." [1 Cor 12:13] So therefore, the Holy Spirit Himself is our righteousness. And so, the evidence of righteousness according to what Bro. Branham said, is to believe the Word that is predestinated to your day, as it was in all days. 7. Another quote: [The Easter Seal 65-0410] [132] But the real, true quickening Spirit that comes to believer, quickens him to God’s Word, When the quickening took place, they were not afraid to make a witness of the Message that they believed in you to be the true. 8. Fifth: [This Day This Scripture Is Fulfilled 65-0219] [146] The Holy Ghost is the Word of God in you, that identifies Itself by accepting that Word. Outside of that, it can’t be the Holy Ghost. If it says it’s the Holy Spirit, and denies one Word of that Bible, it cannot be the Holy Spirit. That’s the evidence whether you believe it or not. 9. Token: number six: [Token 63-0901] [208] The Token agrees with every Word. It has got to, because It is the Word. It is the Life that was in the Word. “My Words are Spirit and Life,” Again, that's the evidence of the Holy Spirit when God reveals to you and you see it. "Thus saith the Lord' and accept it. It's what God has done for you, now there's your evidence. 10. Now, we'll just go to Scripture here and break this down, so that we will see for ourselves that we're not depending merely upon what somebody else has said, but what the Holy Spirit has already placed in the Word of God. We go to John 14:26. (26) But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Now, here we find that the Holy Spirit is definitely given for a teaching ministry. 11. Now, we're going to connect this with John 16: and see It perfectly beginning at verse 12. He said, (12) I have yet many things to say unto you, but (you) cannot bear them now. Now, He's made a statement here to the people that is very precise. He said, "I would like to say many things, but you haven't got what it takes, so there's simply no use in telling you." "Well now, when are we going to be able to take It?" "Well, (He said) you'll be able to take It when the Holy Spirit comes." Because that's what He said in verse 2. (13) Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he (shall show) you things to come. (14) He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall (show) it unto you. (15) All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, he shall take of mine, and shall (show) it unto you. Now, if you just keep these words in mine here, you will see that the whole message I bring will dovetail with It. For He is saying here that "when the Spirit of God is come He will teach you the Spirit of Truth will guide you into all Truth." Now, that statement is tremendously inclusive of just about anything in everything that would be incumbent upon a Christian to either do or produce. And then He said, "He’ll not speak of Himself. And again He said, "Whatever He'll hear you that will speak and He will show you things to come. He shall glorify Me, for He shall receive of Mine and show It unto you." And then, so I say, as you keep these Scriptures in mind, you will see that It dovetails with the entire sermon. 12. Now, 1 Corinthians 2:9, (9) But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, … Now watch how this dovetails with John 16: because He mentions that they didn't have what it takes. And then He said when the Holy Spirit came He would do certain things. (9) …Eye hath not see, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. That's the same place what Jesus said. Said, "You haven't got what it takes." (10) But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: (the literal fulfillment of John is taking place here) for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. (11) For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now, he's telling you here in simple illustration that as birds understand birds, and animals understand animals, and people understand people, it's going to take God to understand God. So, don't kid yourself. You don't have God, you're just finished. Try as hard as you want, you might feel that you might think that you understand the dog. But let me tell you flat, there's no one here that can really understand the dog. You can be as smart as Pavlov and train him, and do this and do that, but you'll never understand the dog. Now, Albert Pace and Terry Hoon(?) tells how that there were two dogs, and he had one little tiny dog, and one a great big old Mastiff, he was a good old Boxer kind of a dog, could really fight. And he said one day a little dog went out of his yard went down the road, and he got out of his own element. A dog came by and just whipped the living daylights out of that young dog. So, the young dog went home and there was a big dog there and said something. And he saw the big dog and the little dog go down the street, and the big dog whipped the stuffing's out of the dog that whipped the stuffing's out of the little dog. Now, you figure that out. You haven't, you haven't got a dog's spirit. I wouldn't push that too hard on some people of course. [laughter] You haven't got a bird's spirit. How come sparrow's breed with sparrows, but a white man will go with a black woman? We should be birds. 13. Now, lets' face it, he's just telling something just flat here, you on you as people understand people, because you've got human spirits. Birds have spirits understand birds. Nature goes in continuity, how can anybody but God know God? Now, if you haven't got God you're finished, and it lets you know that there's only one way to have God, and that's by being baptized with the Holy Ghost. And it tells you what will happen when you do have Him. Then when it happens when you do have Him you have Him. If it's not happening you don't have Him. We're looking at evidence, right? As far as I'm concerned this is very simple. (12) Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Now, It says, "you got to know Him." It doesn't say, "have Him so much as you've got to know Him." Because if you have Him you got it all, because He is the Word. And if you have that creative Word you got everything. The thing would know would be to know how to manifest It, distribute it and so on. 14. All right, notice 13, (13) Which things also we speak, … You say, "Paul, you big mouth, you must be telling us something, you've really got something." He said, "Sure (he said) I'm not a big mouth, I knew there was something." You know, people don't like the idea there's such a thing as God ordained men in the Ages that really stand as God to the people. They don't like that. Here's Paul, he said: (13) Which things also we speak, … Of course, he's very polite, he's including these folk here, but he's not really. If this really the editorial 'we', because Paul never called a conference with anybody, or for anybody. God called him into conference and told him what for, and wherein and Paul went out and preached it. So, this is the editorial 'we' actually. I'll show you in chapter 14. (13) Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom (teaches), but which the Holy Ghost (teaches); comparing spiritual things with spiritual. In other words, you don't go outside the Word, and you don't go outside of God. Hope you caught that. Interesting thought. (14) But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15. Now, let's get to 1 Corinthians 14:36-37 to what I want to look at, and show you it's not the editorial 'we'. (36) What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only? The editorial 'we' was back there, Paul was speaking of Paul of himself in the first person and softening it. But here he lets them know the Word never came out of you, the Word came unto you and I'm that one that brought It. Now, he said, (37) (Listen) if any man think himself to be a prophet, (it is a prophet to whom the Word comes. That's a major prophet. If he's a minor prophet, he can never be a part from the Word.) or spiritual, (that is full of the Holy Ghost) let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord. (See?) 16. Okay, 1 John 2: and here's another man, beginning at verse 18. (18) Little children, it is the last time: as (you) have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. Who's an antichrist? A man' that's got a false spirit on him. He's a false prophet, he's got the wrong Word. (19) They went out from us, they were not of us; if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest they were not all of us. In other words, we weren't a complete unit. We didn't all have the Holy Spirit. (20) But (you that stayed with the Word) have an unction from the Holy One, and (you) know all things. Now, did they really know everything? No, they did not know everything. No man would know all things. What it is, the unction is the potential, so that everything can be known that is necessary to the individual and fallen in line for the individual. Consequently, the whole church. Just what do you think my thumb knows? I'd hate to ask it. It wouldn't answer me anyway. What do my toes know? But there's an intelligence that keeps the whole body as a unit and it all knows, is what he's saying here. All right. (21) I have not written unto you because (you) know not the truth, (it's been laid out before you) but because (you) know it, and no lie is of the truth. (22) Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that (denies) the Father and the Son. (23) Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: … (I'm going to leave that print out there, that somebody else put in, I'm not interested.) (24) Let that therefore abide in you, which (you)have heard from the beginning. (And see, he's using the identical words to what Jesus is using over there in chapter 15, as well as in 17 and so on.) If that which (you) have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, (you) also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father. 17. Now, he's pinning it down to words. He's pinning Eternal Life down to Word. He's not pinning it down to something else. "Search the Scripture, for in them you think you have Eternal Life, and they are they which testify of Me." [John 5:39] And that is the truth. For the Word is Spirit and Life. Now: (25) …this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life. That's just what I said from verse 24 to 25. Eternal Life is there. The Word in the person is Eternal Life. Eternal Life is the Word. (26) These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you. So, I'm giving you a warning: (27) But the anointing which (you) have received of him abideth in you, and (you) need not that any man teach you: … No man can teach anybody, there's no living person. If I were up here so full of the Holy Ghost, I'd scintillate like a million-watt bulb, there's isn't one person could catch one word I was saying in the Holy Ghost, unless you had the Holy Ghost to catch it. I'm sorry. It just doesn't work from father to son, or teacher to pupil. Or individual to individual. The best you can get is a smattering of a carnal letter. But to know the Word of God is impossible. (See?) You got to have the Holy Spirit. (27) …(no) man (can) teach you: but as the same anointing (teaches) you of all things, and is (the) truth, and no lie, even as it hath taught you, (you) shall abide in him. And what if he hasn't taught you? You can't abide in Him. There it is. (28) …little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming. And what's he talking about? The anointing of the Word of Almighty God the Reality of what the Holy Spirit can bring to that Word in the person. And he said, "That is your Eternal Life, that is your safeguard, that is what we're looking for, that is what we want. (See?) Thank God that is what we have. 18. Now, this has continued in all Seven Church Ages. It has never ceased. It cannot cease. We go to Revelation 2:7. Now, first of all read verse 1. (1) Unto the (messenger) of the church (which is in) Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, … Who is He? That's Jesus. Where is He? He is in the Bride. How long is he in the Bride? Seven Church Ages. Because the Seven Candlesticks are the Seven Churches, are the Seven Ages. And the Seven Stars are the messenger in the right hand. Seven Church Ages, seven messengers, and the Son of Man His Voice is in that Bride continuously. Because John turned to see the Voice. And when he turned to see the Voice, he saw the outward manifestation which was a Bride. So, the Bride is the Word of God in every Age. ["Amen"] Thank you, don't be afraid to say "amen" once in a while. Usually I don't want it, because it just disturbs people. But I appreciate you're catching on. Now, that’s what the Son of man revealed in human flesh is the Bride in every Age. (See?) 19. Now, (1) Unto the (messenger) of the church of Ephesus… These things saith he that (holds) the seven stars in his right hand, who (walks) in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks; Then in verse 7, (7) He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; … Now, how does anybody hear from God? The individual person does not hear from God, it's a messenger that hears from God, and then the people in whom is the Holy Ghost, they will listen to that Word, and every Word is 'Amen' to the individual, and no man is teaching, but the Spirit inside is collecting It. (See?) So therefore, the Holy Spirit is incarnated seven times in every age, in specific individuals and incarnated in the rest of the members of the body. Even as the mind controls the body, so the incarnation of the major messenger is as it were, our minds. Where Paul said, "We have the mind of Christ." This goes on for Seven Ages, because in every Age it's the same thing unto the messenger to the church which is in. "Then he that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying." But God is giving the Word to only one individual. And that individual is as Bro. Branham said, in our guide that Peter was the incarnation of the Holy Spirit to Cornelius. And we in our turn become the same thing in a lesser form, as we spread the good Word of Almighty God. 20. Now, at the end of the Seventh Church Age preparatory for the Resurrection, the greatest illumination of the Age has come. We go over here to the Book of Ephesians, (I could skip this, but I won't do it.) [Chapter 1:] beginning at verse 15 to those who are sealed in: (15) Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, (16) Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; (17) That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: Now, what's going to happen at the end time? I'll tell you, and show you it's the end time. (17) … give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: (18) The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that (you) may know what is the hope of his calling, the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, Now notice, it takes a definitive spirit to do it. No man of himself can know this. At the end time the spirit assumes another office, and that office is the office of revelation in a specific way, that He will reveal Christ. And then It says here at that time: (19) …what is the exceeding greatness of (the) power (of the resurrection) to (us) who believe, (is manifested) … Which means the Resurrection takes place at this time a specific fantastic illumination. So therefore, you can see putting the Scripture together, and for what the prophet said. That everything depends upon the Holy Spirit coming into recognition in the individuals and to the individuals to accomplish anything of the plan of Almighty God. (I couldn't repeat that if I tried, so I hope you caught it.) Should have written it down. 21. Let me read what the prophet said. [The Spoken Word is the Original Seed 62-0318] [384] You can only serve God as you do, and believe the servants that God sends. You can only serve God on earth (see) as God's servants that's sent on earth by Divine inspiration interprets the Word to you. In other words, if there wasn't someone to interpret the Word of God to us, a literal incarnation of the Holy Spirit in every Church Age, nobody could worship and serve God, period! And that's exactly what the Bible says whether you believe it or not. (See?) Now, that's just not a vindicated prophet having said it. If you have the Holy Spirit you can understand and see what even what I am saying up here, as I take you to Scripture by Scripture. There is nobody can worship and serve God outside of the baptism with the Holy Ghost, and the baptism with the Holy Ghost brings a definitive revelation that makes it possible, without the revelation, it can't be possible. You cannot worship or serve God. It simply cannot be done. (See?) Now, I hope we're in agreement up to this point. 22. Now, I believe however, that there are many people and I have spoken a little bit prefacing a Message of some that I know, who are a little confused if not more than a little confused concerning evidence and the manifestation, or working of the Holy Spirit in a spirit filled life. They cannot separate as to their uniqueness and then present them in a unified form. In other words, they do not have the analytical ability which the Holy Ghost would certainly have to give you. And if you have the Holy Ghost you certainly would have to have the analytical ability in order to separate what we're talking about. Which is the evidence and the manifestation of the Spirit as He comes forth uniquely in performances and in services and so on in individual's life. Then separated in our understanding we put them together in our daily lives and walk before God. 23. Now, to look at the evidence only is like recognizing a person only by his faith and not the whole personality. That's why a marriage goes on the rocks, because some stupid boy goes by and sees a pretty girl, and wow, that does it. If you would have stuck around her long enough you would have found he wouldn't take her out in a cow pasture and throw her in a river. Just about anyway. I'm trying to make a point here whether you like it or not. Simply looking at the evidence of the baptism with the Holy Ghost and leaving It sit there. Is too much like people recognizing somebody by their face. And the face is not the whole personality. Is not the whole person. But the face is a point of recognition. Now, if I had something up here, I don't really need it, [Bro. Vayle demonstrates] if I had up here like a sheet, hanging up here, and I was a certain individual, which I know of very well in the United States and you know by name also. And you were a group of soldiers sitting here, and suddenly a man in uniform behind this cloth so you cannot see him, the arm shoots out. Aw, right away you begin to guess who is he? 24. Now, one fellow says, "I can tell by the way he holds his hand out, (left hand there) curls those fingers, raises the two in a 'V' and I can tell those battle fatigues, that's Eisenhower, absolutely. Fine, the right hands shoots out, this time a little different. "Oh, (they say) that's got to be Ike, nobody but Ike does that." The right foot shoots out, "Hey, look at the way the pants are." He had a certain way the crease was, that's got to be Ike. The left foot shoots out, "Oh, (they say) we're convinced it's Ike." No doubt but the head comes out. "Oh, (they say) look the way the shoulders are stooped." The cloth fits his shoulders, his body. The size of the man. "It's got to be Ike." What if the face doesn't come out? "Oh, what about it?" You see everything else, are you sure? And the face comes out, like that. What if it was General Patton? "Well, what about it?" 25. The face identifies. You say, "Bro. Vayle, I believe there's a better identification." If you mean a finger print, yes, but not a hand that does work. If you want to reduce it further than a face, I've heard where people tried plastic surgery, burning their fingers and trying every conceivable way to eradicate the print, you can't do it, except you cut it off or maim it, way down where the print can't come back. But I'm going to stick to the face as the point of identification. But the face is not all there is to it. But the face identifies, and that's what we're talking about, evidence whether a person really has the Holy Spirit or not. You just don't stop the air as I say with the person and accept his face and say, "That's all there is to it." There's more than that to it. But there's a point of evidence or identification. So, here's what I'm trying to say to you, though dynamic works of manifestation, of the Holy Spirit are not the evidence. Those manifestations must be amongst us. I not only identify the Spirit. but expect out workings and manifestations from Him if He is me. I don't only identify the Spirit filled person, but I expect manifestation from Him. 26. Now, let's go to Matthew 24:24 to make It very clear. This is going to happen at the end time. (24) ...there shall arise false Christs, (even lying) prophets, and shall (show) great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very (elected.) (25) Behold, I have told you before. Genuine signs and wonders, speaking in tongues and prophecy. Raising the dead and healing the sick will be right here, and those same people if you're going to go by anything outside the face to identify. They are just as much full of the Holy Ghost anybody else is. Judas is just as much elected as anybody is. Because when the command was given, "heal the sick and raise the dead," he healed the sick and raised the dead. (See?) So therefore, we must understand we do expect great works amongst us. But there must be a point of identification. And the identification is always, "is that person in the Word of the hour." 37. Now, let me tell you something, this Word for this hour could not have happened in any other Age but this Age. And the only reason it happened it the first Age, because Alpha is Omega. What was back there happens again. So, when He commissioned the twelve and sent them out, and Judas was of the devil. Jesus said, "One of you is diabolos." [Joh, 6:70] He never said one of you is of the devil, or one of you has a devil. He said, "One of you is diabolos," which is, one of you is the devil. And Judas is the original incarnation of Satan when it comes to a total taken over person, for the devil possessed him. Satan himself. Not some sub-devil, not some super devil, but the devil himself. And he was literally using the power of Almighty God, at the time the sick were being healed. I don't say he was full of the devil at that time, but he was not one of the elected, and he did not have the Word of Almighty God. 38. Korah, Dathan and Abiram were another picture. God destroyed them, but here was the true prophet Moses. Here's another picture, Balaam stood there, and his prophecy is still coming to pass after about four thousand years. But Balaam was not truly a true prophet. He was truly a prophet. Now you go back here where Jesus said, "I told you before." Is Matthew 7: where He told them. And here's what He said: (15) Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Sheep on the outside, devils on the inside. Sheep on the outside, wolves on the inside. Apples on the outside, brambles on the inside. Healthy on the outside, rotten on the inside. Christ on the outside, devil on the inside. Now, you do what you want with it, but that's the Bible. And if you want to dispute It, you just might as well leave now, go on home. I can't do you a bit of good. You're only going to get madder, because I'm going to keep on saying it, because this is what the Word of God said. Tells you right here. See, I told you before He said. 39. Now, He said, (18) A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, a corrupt tree (cannot) bring forth good fruit. Well, what's got to be down in there? The Word has got to down in there. (22) (Look it, He said,) Many will (come and) say…Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? (can't deny it) have (we) cast out devils? (can't deny it, have we) done many wonderful works? (Can't deny it.) (23) And… (he Said) I never knew you: …(never were in the election.) So, mighty signs and wonders can be the order of the day, but the person can be as phony as a three-dollar bill. So, they're going to keep the face behind the screen, and you're going to put the leg and the hand out here doing wonderful works. "Hallelujah, that's got to be God. Hallelujah, that's got to be God." Give him the Word test and find out. Now, the miracles are of God, but the person is not of God, because we're talking what's the evidence of the man being full of the Holy Ghost? Now, I know that people don't understand, but look it, it's simple as a-b-c. All power is of God, and the devil has no power but God's power which is perverted, prostituted, mutilated and messed up. 40. I've told you many of time, I think I've told you many times, any congregation in America, I can stand right here, and I got a hand that can form a fist, or a hand that can help. Now, you're at a river here and the river is raging, and you're holding on to a little branch and you say, "Bro. Vayle, help me." And I look at you and I don't like you. I can go 'pow'! And with the strength of my arm, I can sock you right in the face and throw you in the torrent and you'll die. And the same strength can grab you and say, "Come my brother." You understand what I'm saying now? That's what we're talking about. You can have Christ on the outside and a devil on the inside, so to speak. You can have men performing miracle after miracle. Gigantic ministries, and be as phony as a three-dollar bill. I'm not here to mention names, but I'm here to talk about the Bible. 41. All right, now because of that we don't stand to one side and say, "Hey, we don't need miracles." But don't say, "Who needs healing, bless God we got the Holy Ghost. We got the Word, so hallelujah, we're just not going to worry." Well, you better start worrying, because you got ministries. Now, the Book of Mark chapter 16 tells us specifically, He said, "Go into all the world and preach the Gospel." Bro. Branham said, "He didn't say, 'Teach it, (he said) preach It'." And preaching is the Word of God in power and demonstration. " (16) He that believeth (should be) baptized… he that believeth not be damned. (17) And these signs (will) follow them that believe; In my name (you're going to) cast out devils; (in my name (they'll) they speak with new tongues; (18) (You'll) take up serpents; if they drink any deadly thing, it (won't) hurt (you); (if you) lay hands on the sick, they shall recover. (19) (And then He said, I'm going back to heaven, now you take over.) And He sent the Holy Ghost in order to give them the Word of God whereby, they with that Word and power vested in them could properly worship and serve God, without which they could not do it. If they have been given simply enduement of power, or dunamis without the revelatory concept to the Holy Ghost, it would not work. (See?) 42. So, we do expect it. James 5:14 still exists. "Call the elders, let them lay hand on you. Anoint you with oil and you shall be healed. And if you've done any sinning it's going to be forgiven." Why is this so? Because the same God that never changes His Name. That is, never changes Himself, or His attributes, is the One that said over in Exodus 15: 26 exactly Who He was. (26) And (It) said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right…and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee. And remember, healing is the children's bread. There should not be a dearth amongst us of healings, it's our own fault. And if a person goes to see on evidence and does not realize there's a spirit manifestation utilized amongst us, then you'll just go that way. 43. There's an old preacher I think I told you about back in Calgary many years ago. Laurie Reynolds, he and his wife were simply dynamite. When you went there, people receiving the Holy Spirit, (as we understood it back in those days) and I believe they genuinely being filled and they'd be healed left and right. And I said, "Bro. Reynolds, I want to ask you a question, how is it, (I said) that your church gets all kinds of healings when the church down the road the preacher that believes in the same thing doesn't get it?" And he said, "Son, let me tell you something, you get what you preach for. We preach for people to get the baptism with the Holy Ghost, and to get healed and they do." And that man said a whole mouth full, he was right. Because the Word of God is especially sets forth that those things are to be amongst us. And they can, and will be amongst us, if we let that sweet Spirit of Christ blow over us and get in the proper position where we ought to be. 44. Now, this tells us why Bro. Branham hit the Baptist at one time, because they had no signs, and slug the Pentecostal's next time, and they did have the signs. He could say, the Baptist is, and you don't even believe in divine healing, and deny the power of the Holy Ghost to perform miracles, when they’ve got the evidence here? You take the old upper-cut, the old left-hand jab and a right hand cross, and smack him down every time. And turn around and say, "You Pentecostal's, you think you've got the Holy Ghost, because you speak in tongues and seen miracles." Well you say, "The guy talks out of both corners of his mouth." He'd be a champion watermelon eater. Eat this side, spit seeds out that side and talk through his mouth the same time. No, he wasn't any kind of a hypocrite and a watermelon eater. He wasn't dealing in anything of duplicity. He's just telling the truth. There ought to be signs amongst us, there must be signs amongst us. But that's not the evidence of the baptism with the Holy Ghost. The evidence of the baptism is believing the Word for the hour, and the Spirit manifested life. If you've got the Spirit will be manifesting and there will be signs and wonders amongst us. Why shouldn't there be? God's not dead. 45. Secondly, though soul wining is not the evidence, yet we can and must win souls. For if man is indeed identified and Spirit filled, he will certainly try to win souls. We take one look at a little Scripture over here used by many people. It's the Book of Acts 1:8. And in here is what Jesus is saying: (8) But (you) shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and (you, and the word here is 'dunamis', too and you) shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. And He said, "Right here, (He said) when you are full of the Holy Ghost you will be a witness unto Me. You'll be missionaries. You'll be out there, winning souls." 46. Now, let's go to the Book of Galatians 4: (and I’m not going to read the whole portion of Scripture, verses 19-31, because it is not necessary.) For you yourself already know what it is, it's the allegory concerning the two Jerusalem's. Now, one is Sinai, Mount Sinai in Arabia, which is typical of Jerusalem on earth. The other is Mount Zion, which is New Jerusalem. Now, here is what this man of God says right here. Now, verse 27, (27) For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate (that's Hagar, the desolate) hath many more children than she which hath an husband. And the one husband is Sarah, and she had one which was a child of promise. Now, there can be millions of children born of the flesh into a spiritual, religious realm. 47. Now, let me tell you what that is: that's over here is 1 Peter 1:23, we've gone over this many times. (23) Being born again, not of corruptible seed, (not of corruptible sperma) but of incorruptible, (sperma, which is) the word of God, which (lives) and (abides) forever. The same thing that John said, "wherein is Eternal Life." [John 17:3] It's in that Word. Now, Peter says here, "Get born again, but be careful of what you're born again." Because you can be born again of the corruptible word, and you can be born again of the incorruptible Word, and there will be absolutely no difference as to an outward evidence. Now, what do you mean? Very simple, when a person get's born again he changes. Now, a person used to drink, doesn't drink anymore. If he used to smoke, he doesn't smoke anymore. He used to cuss, doesn't cuss anymore, he becomes a moral person, he goes to the Word of God in at least a certain measure. 48. All right, I can get the same thing from a doctor. A fellow comes in and he's been a high handed rough living old coot, and now the doctor says, "I've taken your blood pressure, I've given it a complete analysis and I want to tell you, if you lose your temper one more time, you're gone. If you take you take one more drink you're gone, one more smoke you're gone." The fellow says, "Oh doc. you don't you don't mean that." He said, "I mean it." "Well, (he said) I'm a new man." He doesn't take one more drink, he doesn't smoke one more cigarette, doesn't lose his temper one more time. Doesn't smack his wife one more time. He's a model. Is he born again? Sure, psychologically. I know people and you know people. I've got neighbors, and I want to tell you, being sweet and kind that man beats me a million ways, actually, he was born that way. I wasn't. Maybe not a million ways, I could be exaggerating, but I want to get the truth across to you. You know people the same as I do they positively do manifest like real Christians. Are they born again? They're born again, but what seed are they born of? (See?) 49. Here's a bunch of Catholics speaking in tongues. Doing a good job too, genuine tongues. The pope himself said, "Look, (he said) I absolutely decree and I request, (he said, literally command) that my priests receive the Holy Spirit and they talk in tongues." But they say, "Hail Mary." They kiss the pope's finger, or his toe, whatever it is they do. They count their beads, their rosaries. They take the place of Almighty God. Pure antichrist. I told you about when I was over in England last year ago October. Peter Richards was at a meeting, (Pentecostal meeting) with the Full Gospel Business Men there. And here's a lovely Roman Catholic priest praying for the sick. Great ministry. And he said, "My, what a switch, what a switch, (he said) a Roman Catholic priest praying for sick Pentecostal's when it used to be the other way." He just smiled, he said, "Why don't you come home to mother?" They were already there and didn't know it. Sure. You study the history, I know some of you have as I have. God back and look at some of those great men in the Roman Catholic church and not too many years ago. They come out shining as saints, because they've had spiritual experiences. How can they be born again and off the Word? Making their church the door of entrance instead of Jesus Christ. 50. Listen, brother/sister, soul winning is a must, but great numbers of souls do not mean people are genuinely born again. Let's go to 1 Corinthians 6:9-11. (9) Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, (10) Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. Now listen, did you hear what I read? It says here, "Don't be deceived, fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, effeminate, homosexuals, thieves, covetous, drunkards, revilers, extortioners, thinking of God." But It says; (11) And such were some of you: … We got the church today so messed up saying, "Should homosexuals be in the pulpit?" No! They shouldn't be in any pulpit, that's a pulpit of hell and the devil. And they're not born again. There won't be a homosexual then, and they can’t get in the pulpit. I don't care if they had a million souls saved they all looked genuine, I'm going to tell you flat, as far as the Bible's concerned I believe I can say honestly every last one will go to that Lake of Fire! (11) And such were some of you: … Ever seen a homosexual delivered? I have, they can be delivered. They can be delivered! 51. A woman came to me couldn't stand her husband. She had two children by him and couldn't stand him. Every now and then he would shackle the woman. She became desperate one morning. God delivered her, she was no more a homosexual. (See?) Lutheran church, Methodist, whole bunch of hogwash from the pit of hell. Trying to tell you, "Yes, we'll love the homosexuals and bring them in the pulpit." We'll love them, but… I like Anita Bryant, God bless her. Drink all the orange juice you can. Especially Anita's brand. Be like the hundreds of thousands who wrote letters and showed these gay societies and the filth aren't going to run this nation, or any nation. Let the people of God stand up for the Word of God. Let them come to the Cross of Jesus Christ. Let them come to the fountain of Blood. Let them get baptized with the Holy Ghost. They'll not be homosexual any longer. They won't even be fighting somebody’s inordinate disgusting passion. I've dealt with homosexuals, I'm not mad, I'm just telling you flat. They can get saved. God can save a nut like me, I trust then, He can save anybody, that's just put here, their carte blanche. It says, (11) …such were some of you: (the entire gamut, the entire category, extortioners, revilers, miserable, rotten. But now He says, you're) sanctified, justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. Full of the Holy Ghost. (See?) That's what we're looking at. We're looking tonight at the fact that people can be saved, they must be saved as long a Jesus Christ does not come for the last elected one, or we don't know it, we should be out there casting the net. 52. The Book of Ephesians 4:15-16, It says, (15) But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: (16) From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase the body the edifying of itself in love. This is the last day message, this is the end time growing up into Christ, and they're still souls to be saved. And I'll tell you flat, the greatest joy I have is seeing people who come out of raw heathenism get a true salvation and full of the Holy Ghost; and they understand this Message just like nothing. Everybody else stumbles around looking at their former theology and can't take this, and can't take that. And they sit and just say, "Pile it on, pile it on." They don't have a bit of trouble. Oh, I like that. (Yeah) 53 Proverbs 11:30, let's find out what It says. (30) …he that winneth souls is wise. Now, hold that in mind, and we're going to go right to the Book of Daniel and we're going to go right to the last chapter, and we're going hear exactly what is said to a people in the very end time, and we'll take the first 4 verses. (1) And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which (stands) for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. (2) And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall (arise, and) some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. (3) And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever. The last chapter, for the last Age commends, not only commends and not only requests, but commands as a penalty, loss of rewards and position, if you don't win souls. Soul must be won to the Lord Jesus Christ. 54. Thirdly, we're going to look at fruit, and this is the same as the rest. We go to Galatians 5:22-23, and here is what It says: (22) But the fruit of (these) Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, (23) Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Doesn't say one thing about teaching. Doesn't say a thing about knowledge. In other words, you could have all this fruit and no knowledge. Just kind of a quiet person raised amongst the Hindus. How come India is a graveyard of missionaries? Because the missionaries went there and they saw what would be a higher form of Christianity what they saw over here. I had a couple of buddies go over there. The one fellow Baptist preacher. We though he's full of the Holy Ghost. We found out he wasn't, because he couldn't take it when he got there. He came back eulogizing Hinduism. And the man he was with was formerly a Baptist preacher. He quit the seminary, gone into business. He went over there, and he came back completely turned around. He said, "My God, they show more without God than we show with God, they got to have more somewhere, something's wrong somewhere." Something was wrong somewhere, it wasn't wrong what he got. Yes sir, a graveyard of preachers. 55. I don't care how beautiful people are, and they should be beautiful, this is not the evidence. Let me show you over here in 2 Corinthians 6:6. (6) By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned, There is a genuine love and there's a feigned love, and you can't tell the difference on the surface. Love is love whether it's of God, the fruit of the Spirit, or something else. I'm not talking about carnality now. 56. Let's prove it. 1 Peter 1:22, another Scripture, the verse preceding the one I read a while ago. (22) Seeing (you) have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, … In other words, there can be a feigned love, an imitation love, a put-on love. It'll look just as good as the other. 57. Let's go to Romans 12:9 (9) Let love be without… (hypocrisy. The word dissimulation is pocrisy.) Let love be without (hypocrisy.) In other words, it could be a pure case of seduction. You can show all kinds of love to get your point. (See?) Genuine love and a phony love. But love is not the evidence. Bro. Branham mentioned, Christian Science and he's true. They'll manifest more love then many a Christian will ever manifest. He talked about the kind old priest who was so good, who'd help the family in difficulties. Settled their problems, given them financial aid. But he was one of the people that renegade Jesus cast out of the temple and beat him up doing it. Now, I want to know how you can ever reconcile love with a sock in the jaw, or whip on the back? Now, Jesus didn't sock him on the jaw, but he whipped him on the back. 58. Now, you enough people here, you're old enough to know a little bit about farming. Some of you kids will know the first thing about, but your parents do anyway. What we used to do is use binder twine in order to make the [hay] bundles. Now, you know that a rope burn, or a twine burn is about as dirty a burn as you can get. Now, you just image Jesus taken binder twine and making sure the thing was really a 'cat of nine', one nice lash deal, and then He goes whap across the arm, then He pulls the rope like this, and you just see that skin tear off. You've got one of the prettiest burns you've ever seen. How much love did He show then? How much love did He show when He healed one person and bypassed hundreds? How much love did He show when He raised just a few dead, and bypassed thousands? Now you see, you're getting into a place now where you're soul winning, and your fruit, and your manifestations goes plumb down the drain. If you're talking about the evidence of the Holy Ghost, because Jesus was the Holy Ghost in flesh, all of It. But people forget, He's the Word. Then if you're going to have the Holy Ghost, the true Holy Ghost, He's got to be Word, and that which comes out of the Word. So, here we get evidence and manifestation neatly analyzed, and synthesized if you only understand It. 59. Now, consider worship and service. How could anybody do either one, because He said, "They that worship Me, must worship me in Spirit and in Truth." Now, He said there's got to be worship. Remember, there's coming a day when every knee is going to bow, and every tongue is going to confess to the glory of God that Jesus is the Christ. But it will not be by the Holy Spirit. It'll be by a compulsion. I want you to notice though there is a compulsion here that there must be a worship. And He said, "They that worship must do it in Spirit and in Truth." [John 4:23] Now, where are you going to get it? You're going to get It by the Holy Spirit Himself, Who is the Life of that Word, and He bringing that Word to us, will cause that Word to be manifested. And any manifestation outside of that Word of God, or the Holy Spirit working outside of that Word, cannot be an evidence of that person being baptized with the Holy Ghost. So, I don’t care if he's got all the love in the world looks like. And I don't care if he's winning all the souls in the world looks like. And I don't care if he's got all the power looks like. If that man is not in accord with the Word of the hour, as brought by the servant of the Age, that person cannot be baptized with the Holy Ghost. I know that's hard. But I'm sorry, I did not write the Bible. (See?) How can one worship and serve God? It's as Bro. Branham said, "You can only worship and serve God on earth, see, as God's servants sent on earth by Divine inspiration and interpret the Word to you." There's no other way. There's no other way to worship and serve God. 60. Now remember, God Himself has always been in manifestation. I think here is where people don't understand. Let's go back to the Book of Romans 1:18. Now, It says: (18) For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; In other words, they do not give respect for that Spirit given Word. Now listen: (19) Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. How has God done it? God always manifesting. (20) For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: So therefore, God in nature and God in human beings has been constantly manifesting Himself. So therefore, there can be a conscious deliberate, continuous, manifestation of Almighty God in what appears to be soul winning, and fruit, and worship, and service, and manifestation and everything else. But the person himself is not born of God. Because you see, the rest is a manifestation. 61. It's as Bro. Branham said, "If I give you my pen, I do not give you myself. I give you my pen as a gift." Many people can have gifts of the Holy Ghost, and not have the baptism with the Holy Ghost. There's where Pentecost made its great mistake. They said, "Well, how can anybody speak in tongues, they don't have the Holy Ghost?" Because it's a gift! It's an anointing, not the Holy Spirit Himself. If that were the case, anybody healed then have the Holy Ghost automatically. You could go through Oral Roberts prayer line. Bro. Branham if he were here, or A.A. Allen if he were here, anybody at all, and then you have an anointing. If the Spirit of God healed you, you'd say, "I've got the Holy Ghost, hallelujah." No, you don't have the Holy Ghost, hallelujah. A gift of healing was in operation, and you got healed. The evidence my brother/sister is definitive. But there's manifestation. (See?) 62. Now, let's bring it all together, (hopefully) 2 Peter 1:1-12 (1) Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our (Lord) Jesus Christ: Now remember, Christ is the righteousness of God, the power of God. He's been baptized with the Holy Ghost through the work of Jesus. (2) Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of our Lord (Jesus Christ), (3) According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that called us to glory and virtue: And It says, "All the things of God are available to us through the knowledge of Him, through the revelatory power of the Holy Ghost." There is nothing that God cannot, and will not do through us, and for us and to us. Now: (4) Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these (we) might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
